Whether you’ve always dreamed of owning a bamboo rod or you’re simply looking for something truly one of a kind, John and Fabia bring the experience, precision, and passion to make it happen. The Fly Rod Company also handles all Red Truck customer repairs.
About John Patrick Rivera
John Patrick Rivera has been building fly rods in bamboo, fiberglass, and graphite from his shop in Idaho Falls, ID since 2010 — when a life change gave him the opportunity to turn a lifelong passion into a craft. He received his initial bamboo rod training from Chris Raine of Dunsmuir Rod Company in California, and later studied advanced bamboo rod tapers under noted California rod maker Jerry Foster.
A member of the Oakland Casting Club since 2007 and a certified casting instructor with Fly Fishers International, John brings both deep technical knowledge and genuine love for the sport to every rod he builds. He also serves on the Board of the Snake River Cutthroats Fly Fishing Club in Idaho Falls. Before dedicating himself full time to rod making, John spent 30 years in commercial printing — a career where attention to detail isn’t optional. That same diligence and precision carries into every rod that leaves his shop.
John stands behind every rod he produces. Plain and simple.
